Welcome to Year 6, an exciting and memorable final year of primary school! Our calm, friendly and nurturing classroom is a place where every child feels valued, respected and supported. We celebrate the unique qualities that make each of us special, helping pupils grow in confidence while building lasting friendships and positive relationships. Teamwork is at the heart of everything we do. Through leadership opportunities such as our rotating weekly table captains, pupils develop important skills including communication, responsibility and collaboration. Together, we create a positive learning environment where everyone is encouraged to shine and celebrate their achievements.

Dysgu / Learning

This term, we will be exploring our thought-provoking topic, “Where is the Love?” Through a range of exciting learning experiences, we will investigate the mini-topics:

• War, Conflict & Invasion
• Citizens of Change
• Diversity
• A Worthy Cause

Following an inspiring immersion afternoon packed with creative activities and pupil voice discussions, our learners have helped shape a rich and engaging programme of learning for the Autumn Term. We will begin by exploring key events from World War I and comparing them with those of World War II, developing our understanding of how these significant events shaped the world we live in today. Through powerful texts such as The Boy at the Back of the Class, pupils will also explore themes of empathy, resilience and the impact of conflict on individuals and communities. Throughout the term, children will be encouraged to think critically, ask meaningful questions and make connections between the past and present, helping them become informed, compassionate and curious learners.

Antur / Adventure

One of the highlights of Year 6 is the fantastic opportunity to spend a week at the Urdd Centre, Llangrannog. This unforgettable residential experience is packed with adventure, challenge and fun! From exciting outdoor activities to opportunities for teamwork and independence, pupils will create lifelong memories with their friends while developing confidence, resilience and new skills. The trip is always a favourite part of Year 6 and provides experiences that our learners treasure long after they leave primary school. We can't wait for a year filled with learning, laughter, friendship and adventure as we make the most of this special final year together!
